KAYAC has developed a smartphone app prototype using Tango, a cutting-edge AR technology, as a part of Smart Construction project, an ICT solution provided by Komatsu (Komatsu Ltd.).
This app generates, with AR, 3D completion drawing models for the shape of a site under construction and shows work progress, scans the site and indicates with AR where the earth should be removed and filled, and provides information about construction equipment such as excavators (hydraulic excavators) and dump trucks with real-size AR. The prototype incorporates diverse functions on a trial basis for practical use at jobsites.
It was demonstrated with a jobsite diorama at the special i-Construction segment of the Maintenance & Resilience TOKYO 2017 held at Tokyo Big Sight for three days from July 19 to 21, 2017.
